A Pretoria studio for living gardens

MadeleinTuin is a garden design and landscaping practice based in Pretoria. The work is local: Highveld light, summer storms, winter frost, and the plants that already know this place.

We specify by botanical name, draw so a contractor can build, and prefer indigenous trees that will still be beautiful when the borehole is having a thin year. Exotics are allowed when they behave — they are not the default.

How a project usually runs

1. A walk around the erf — sun, levels, existing trees, how the house is used.
2. A concept with planting character, water logic and a phased budget conversation.
3. Working drawings and a plant list you can take to a nursery.
4. Build and plant, then a seasonal care note so the garden does not depend on memory.
