A Centurion practice for living gardens

MadeleinTuin is the garden design and landscaping practice of Madelein Jordt, based in Centurion. She comes to the garden — there is no showroom to visit.

Madelein started landscaping with Hannatjie just after her thirtieth birthday. Estetico Landscaping ran for almost twenty years, until hip surgery and Hannatjie’s choice to take up being a grandmother professionally closed that chapter. She registered MadeleinTuin in 2026 because she could not contain the work.

The studio is Madelein with a part-time crew — Vinot, Brian, Thabo and Vincet. Planting is specified by botanical name. Sketches with instructions and plant lists are used instead of heavy working drawings, because they are easier to build from on smaller jobs.

How a project usually runs

1. A walk around the erf — sun, levels, existing trees, how the house is used.
2. Sketches, instructions and a plant list. A conversation about what to build first.
3. Install: planting and, where needed, hard landscaping such as edging, paving or a water feature.
4. A seasonal care note so the garden does not depend on memory.

Typical timing

• Consultations — within a week.
• Sketches — within a week for gardens under 100 m², about two weeks when the job is larger.
• Installation — usually one to four weeks, longer when the garden needs heavy preparation, hard landscaping, estate access, or a long carry from the delivery point.
